A practical art direction programme for founders and creatives who want to create connected shoots, campaigns and content with the team and budget they have.
You know how you want your brand to feel. The challenge is turning that feeling into images, communicating it to collaborators and keeping it recognisable across everything you create.
The Recognisable Brand Method guides you through that process. Across six modules, you’ll define your brand’s visual world, develop your creative direction and build the systems that help you carry it into shoots, launches and everyday content.
You’ll apply the lessons to your own brand and create your Brand Playbook: a working document to guide the decisions that keep coming back as your business grows.
6 modules · Recorded audio and written materials · Practical workbook · Self-paced · Lifetime access to course materials
Enrolment opens 28 September.
WHEN YOUR BRAND NEEDS TO SHOW UP EVERYWHERE
Give the time and energy you already put into your brand a direction to build on.
You’re managing the product, the business and how it all looks to the outside world. Somewhere between those responsibilities, you’re also expected to find references, brief a photographer, plan a launch and decide what to post.
A shoot can produce beautiful images and still leave you with gaps. The website needs a wider frame. Your Stories need vertical material. The launch email needs a detail you didn’t capture. Soon, you’re organising more content while trying to make the last set feel connected.
When each channel and campaign is planned separately, you keep having to solve the same questions. What should this look like? Does it feel like us? How do I explain what needs to change?
The programme helps you establish those foundations and use them across your creative work, so your next brief has a clearer starting point.
BUILD THE WORLD BEHIND THE IMAGES
Define what makes your world yours, then learn how to keep expressing it.
A brand world is the atmosphere, point of view and visual qualities that connect your imagery, website, packaging and communication. It gives people a feeling they can begin to associate with your brand.
You’ll learn to identify what creates that feeling: the light, colour, styling, subjects, settings and stories you return to. Through research and practical exercises, you’ll turn those observations into a creative direction that you can explain and use.
That direction helps you choose which references belong, brief collaborators and assess the work that comes back. It also gives you room to develop new ideas while keeping the qualities that make your brand recognisable.
Each shoot becomes an opportunity to expand the world you’re building.
Choose images with a clearer eye
Read what light, colour, composition and styling communicate. Develop criteria for selecting an image, and language for explaining what needs to change.
Brief people with something they can use
Turn an atmosphere in your head into a written direction, annotated references and practical standards. Give a photographer or designer a clearer understanding of what you are asking them to make.
Plan work that belongs together
Connect the next shoot to the website, the launch and the content you will need afterwards. Make room for new ideas while keeping the qualities people should associate with your brand.
MAKE MORE OF THE RESOURCES YOU HAVE
Build an immersive visual world through clear concepts, purposeful production and a plan for how the work will be used.
An immersive brand world can begin with a modest budget. A carefully chosen location, available light and considered styling can express a clear idea. Knowing which details matter helps you decide where to put your time and money.
You’ll learn to plan a shoot around several connected needs. For a collection launch, that might mean a wide image for your website, vertical compositions for Stories, product details for an email and short movement clips—all developed from the same concept.
By connecting your creative direction, shot list and formats before production, you give each shoot a clearer purpose across your channels.
Throughout the programme, you’ll bring these decisions into your Brand Playbook, alongside your visual principles, collaborator briefs and production plans. When the next campaign comes around, you have a direction to develop and a process to follow.
Explore the six modules
YOUR STARTING POINT
Work with an existing brand, one you are preparing to launch, or a brand you help direct.
Bring a willingness to look closely and make decisions. You do not need an art direction qualification. It helps to choose one brand to work on throughout, so the exercises build towards something specific.
Fit note: This programme focuses on the ongoing creative direction of a brand. It does not provide a finished identity designed for you, software training, or a course in finding art direction jobs. If your main question is how to develop your practice and pursue that work, explore The Self-Made Art Director.
You are a founder doing the creative work yourself
You want to understand the decisions behind your imagery and make better use of the time, budget and people available to you.
You are developing or repositioning a brand
You want to examine what already works, identify where the direction has drifted and decide what the next stage should look and feel like.
You make creative decisions for clients
You are a designer, photographer, art director or consultant looking for a connected process for developing and communicating a brand world.
From your first brand read to your Brand Playbook.
Each module builds on the decisions you made in the one before it.
Begin by defining the world you want to create. Then develop the research, imagery, experiences and working practices that allow you to keep expressing it.
INSIDE THE PROGRAM
The lessons explain the thinking. The exercises make you apply it.
1 lessons and an introduction
Six connected modules, taught through recorded audio. Follow the sequence from recognition and research to production, brand experience, campaigns and creative direction.
Written lesson companions
Return to the lesson texts, frameworks and brand examples while you work. Use them to revisit a question or prepare a brief without having to find the same moment in a recording.
The Brand Workbook
31 lesson exercises help you examine your brand and record the decisions you make. You will write, collect references, compare images, plan production and develop briefs. Work with what exists now or the brand you are building towards.
Practical frameworks to use again
Apply the image-reading framework, pre-production checklist, touchpoint map, brand rhythm stack and collaborator brief to future projects. Each helps you work through a particular kind of decision.
A process for building your Brand Playbook
Bring the relevant work from the course into a separate document in your own brand’s design. The final exercise provides a suggested structure, so you can make a reference that is useful to you and your collaborators.
Lifetime access to the course materials
Return to the lessons and workbook when you plan another campaign, work with a new collaborator or revisit your brand’s direction.
Designed around six weeks. Entirely self-paced, with no requirement to finish in six weeks.
This is an independent learning programme. Personal brand reviews, live sessions and one-to-one consulting are not included in this offer.
YOUR BRAND PLAYBOOK
A working reference for your brand and the people making it with you.
The workbook is where you work things out. Your Brand Playbook is where you bring the decisions together in your own brand’s language and design.
It can hold your brand story and audience, visual principles, annotated references, image-making approach and examples of how the direction should appear across different touchpoints. Your briefs and planning documents support the work that follows.
When a new photographer joins, you have something to share. When a campaign idea arrives, you have a direction to test it against. When the brand starts to feel different, you have a record of what you intended and a way to examine what has changed.
Built by you through the programme, using the workbook and the final Playbook structure.
BEFORE YOU JOIN
Choose with a clear understanding of the work and the format.
No. You can work with an existing brand or one you are preparing to launch. If you are starting from scratch, use the exercises to define the world you want to build. If your brand already exists, use your current imagery and materials to examine what works and what needs to change.
The teaching draws on my work in fashion, image-making and branding, but the method concerns decisions that apply across visually led businesses. You can use it for a product brand, a creative business or a personal brand where the visual world matters. You will apply the examples to your own context.
Yes. You can apply what you learn in your professional practice and create your own project documents. Course access is for one participant; the original lessons and workbook may not be redistributed to clients or a team. Other participants need their own access.
You can begin the research, brand-world and planning exercises independently. The production module includes working with limited resources and briefing remote collaborators. If you choose to execute a shoot, you arrange the people and resources it needs. Photography, production and other external project costs are not included in the course fee.
The suggested rhythm is one module a week over six weeks. You can take longer, revisit an earlier exercise or listen through the lessons before returning to apply them. Allow time for the workbook as well as the recordings; the decisions and research are part of the work. There is no six-week completion deadline.
The lessons are recorded audio with written companions and practical exercises. You work independently. Live teaching, personal feedback and one-to-one consulting are not included in this programme.
An internet connection to access the course, a way to collect and organise references, and a tool for assembling your Playbook. You can use a presentation or design tool you already know, such as Slides, Keynote, Canva, Figma or InDesign. The method does not depend on buying a particular software package, and it does not teach those tools.
When you complete the exercises, you will have the material for your own Brand Playbook, alongside research, briefs and planning documents. You assemble the Playbook in your own format and apply your brand’s design. The programme teaches you to develop the direction; a finished identity or custom design service is not included. And ofcourse new gained knowledge, frameworks etc.
You receive lifetime access to the purchased course materials. You can revisit a lesson or framework when a new project gives you a reason to use it again.
No. It divides the programme price into two monthly payments of €199, totalling €398. Both payments form part of the purchase. If a payment fails, follow the secure instructions to update your payment details. Unresolved payments can lead to temporary loss of access under the Terms & Conditions.
We do not offer voluntary change-of-mind refunds. Please review the curriculum and format before buying. This is the only planned edition in 2026, with a main enrolment window and a brief planned reopening within the same launch. I expect to offer it around three times a year in future. Dates for those editions have not yet been set. You can find the dates on the homepage or on the products page.
